Below you will find the answers to some of our more frequently asked questions
- Do I have to book?
No booking is required at Hangdog (unless you have a group of 10 or more people attending). Just show up, fill out a waiver and we will show you the ropes!
- Is there a time limit to climb?
Unlimited climbing all day everyday, if you need to leave and come back just let our staff at the counter know.
- What is the youngest age a child can climb?
There is no age restriction to climb, it all depends on the individual and their comfort with heights and their ability to get up the wall. We have harnesses to fit even the smallest of children.
- Can I come by myself?
Yes! We have autobelays which do not require someone to hold the rope (you will understand when you see it), there is 8 of them around the gym. We also have bouldering and a circuit wall which can be done without a partner. The climbing community is really friendly at Hangdog, just ask someone to partner up. You can also use our “Solo Climbers” board 🙂
- How much does it cost?
General entry for under 16 is $14 plus $5 for harness hire. If you would like to use the caves it is an additional $2.50 per person. For an adult to climb (16 and over) it is $18 plus $5 for harness hire.
- When do you open?
Our opening hours are from 10am-9pm Monday-Friday, currently our weekends are 9am-9pm Saturday and 9am-7pm Sunday.
- Who can hold the ropes?
For safety reasons we only allow people aged 12 and over to hold the ropes for other participants. Our staff will instruct you how to do this on arrival.
- What do I wear?
Please were comfortable enclosed shoes while you are climbing and holding the ropes. We have climbing shoes that you can hire a $3 a pair. Dress attire is in comfortable clothes to move around in and guys please keep your tops on!
- Is there a weight restriction?
Our manufacturers recommend that if you weigh over 150kg that use of the auto-belays and climbing systems at Hangdog is not recommended.
- Where do I park?
Unfortunately Hangdog does not have any off street parking; you can park in some of the quieter streets a short distance away from Hangdog. Be careful not to park in the bus zone that is out the front (it’s marked).
